1° day: Agropoli
Arrival at Naples airport, transfer by bus to the hotel situated in the surroundings of the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni. Guided tour of the town of Agropoli, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, located in the southern end of the Gulf of Salerno and south of the Sele plain. Visit of the promontory on which stand the castle and the Museum of Ceramics. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
2° day: Certosa di Padula/Teggiano
Breakfast. Departure for Padula. Visit the Certosa of San Lorenzo (entrance not included). The history of the building covers a period of about 450 years. The main part of the monastery is in Baroque style and covers an area of 50,500 m² on which more than 320 rooms are built. The monastery has the biggest cloister in the world (about 12,000 m²) and is surrounded by 84 coloumns.
Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon the tour continues to Teggiano, where you can visit the Museum of Traditions and Customs of Vallo di Diano, the Castle of San Severino and the Herb Museum (entrance not included). Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
3° day: Laurino/Roscigno
After breakfast, depart for a visit of the village of Laurino, situated on a hill overlooking the surrounding landscape. Laurino is one of the most populated villages in Calore Valley, where you can visit the Lombard Castle, the convent and the collegiate church.
Lunch at a restaurant. The afternoon continues toward Roscigno, known as the “Pompeii of the 20th century”. Visit of the village, which was abandoned after a landslide after the Second World War. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
4° day: Paestum/Castellabate
Breakfast at the hotel, departure for the Archaeological Park of Paestum (the Temple of Neptune, the temple of Ceres, the Basilica, the Forum, the Amphitheater, etc. – entrance not included) and the National Museum. Lunch at a restaurant.
In the afternoon visit to Castellabate, stroll through the historic centre where “Welcome to the South”, an Italian record braking movie was filmed. Visit the basilica. Departure to Santa Maria di Castellabate and visit of the town centre. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
5° day: Monte Gelbison/Vallo della Lucania
Breakfast and departure for the path that leads to Mount Gelbison. You will start your climb with a walk nearby the “Cross of Rofrano”, a cross placed on a pyramid of stones, symbol of the faith of pilgrims who, during their ascent to the shrine, left a sign of their devotion. You will visit the sanctuary founded by the Basilian monks in the 10th century and dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption.
After the visit, opportunity to assist in the Holy Mass and admire the splendid panorama with a 360° view. Lunch break. In the afternoon visit to Vallo della Lucania with its interesting Female Arts Museum (entrance not included). Return to hotel for dinner and accommodation.
6° day: Roccagloriosa/Museo di Ortega
Breakfast at hotel and departure for Roccagloriosa. Guided tour of the archaeological site, dating back to the 4th cen.BC. Visit of the Antiquarium (entrance not included). The objects found in the tombs belong to the aristocratic local families, passionate about Greek myths which were shown on vases placed on their graves.
After lunch, the tour continues to Bosco with its International Museum dedicated to Jose Ortega, artist known for his pictorial realism but also because he was an opponent of the government of Franco (Spain) and forced to exile from 1960 to 1976. The museum has three exhibition floors, set up entirely with impressive works of papier-mâché (entrance not included). Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
7° day: Elea-Velia/Monte Carmelo Sanctuary
Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with your local guide for a visit to the Archaeological Park of Elea-Velia Ascea (entrance not included), which offers a breath-taking view of scenery and unique environment, thanks to its natural terrace overlooking the sea and the valleys of Alento and Fiumarella making it a special place indeed. On the Acropolis you will visit two exhibitions containing coins, vases, statues and artifacts telling the story dating back to 2500 years ago. The park is quite big, reaching a lenght of 5 km from the southern districts to Castelluccio, the gateway to the north of the city Eleatica. Packed lunch.
In the afternoon you will take a stroll in the small village of Catona on the slopes of Mount Carmel, where you will enjoy a splendid view of the Gulf of Palinuro up to Pioppi. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
8th Day: Palinuro
Boat trip to the Caves of Palinuro. Visit of the small bays and caves including the beautiful and picturesque Blue Grotto. Opportunity to swim at ‘Buondormire’ beach. On return, lunch and departure to Maratea, visit of the small village of Lucania and visit of the Christ statue (entrance not included). Transfer to Naples airport. End of our services.
